 They consist of an external rigid plastic impression tray with enough support for the impression material and an internal impression tray which attaches inside the first.

Two existing types:

Type 1: the internal impression trays are composed of 18 detachable plates arranged in a fan shape at the bottom of the arch. The internal impression tray is placed in the external one, and is placed in the patient's mouth empty. You mark the plate corresponding to the location of the transfer pillar, then you can easily remove it so you can then put the impression material and take your impression.

Type 2: Internal impression trays have an arch covered with an easily penetrable transparent film. The internal impression tray is placed in the external one, then the impression material is placed at the bottom. Press slowly and continuously so the abutment pierces the film for a clean, precise impression.
