Dental suture thread from ETHICON.

• Composition: organic protein called fibroin. Obtained from breeding silk lodging cocoons.
• Braided silk: the silk threads are stripped of natural gums and waxes, then braided and coated
• Virgin silk: virgin silk is twisted from threads that have retained their sericin, which plays the role of cement
• Braided or twisted thread of treated natural origin
• Color Braided silk: colored black with hematin or left colorless
• Virgin silk color: colored blue with methylene blue or colored black with hematin
• Sterilization: Gamma (R) irradiation
• Product class and CE marking: CE 0086 - class III product

Although non-resorbable, progressive degradation of silk protein fibers in vivo can lead to a progressive loss of its resistance over time, this resistance becoming zero in 3 to 6 months.

Sutures used for suturing and/or ligating soft tissues, including in cardiovascular surgery, ophthalmology and neurosurgery.
Contraindicated in people with a known sensitivity or allergy to Silk. The progressive loss of silk resistance does not allow this device to be used when maintaining this resistance is required.
